I was having a chat with a dear friend last night about how she can make health a priority and still fit that into an active social lifestyle especially in the peak of summer.
Her biggest inner conflict was how do you be healthy when some of the things you enjoy doing most aren’t so healthy?
My suggestion was ask a better question:
‘How could you fit health into your lifestyle that still has you achieve your goal and you still enjoy your social life…?’
As humans we’re either motivated my avoiding pain or receiving pleasure. If the changes we make are painful and we don’t enjoy it we won’t stick with it. It’s human behaviour 101.
That’s why at the beginning of making a health change it can seem rather painful & the social life so much more pleasurable.
What if the path to a sexy, healthy & energised body wasn’t change everything all at one? What if it could be easy, pleasurable & done over time?
What if it was simply create a vision of what you ultimately want, then all you have to do is to choose one thing at a time in the area of your health and just commit to that. Eg: Exercise twice a week or eating a salad or something green with every meal.
Once you have that one thing mastered then you add another thing then another and another… Before you know it time will pass and you will have changed 10 things and the realisation of that distant goal will be staring u right in the face.
